Mickelson Wins Scottish Open, Ends Individual Drought

mickelsonPhil Mickelson won the Scottish Open thereby ending his 20-year drought in Europe. His last win on European turf was in 1993 at the Challenge Tour event in Paris. Mickelson beat South African Branden Grace in a playoff on links golf course at Castle Stuart in the Scottish Highlands on Sunday.

Mickelson- Happy at emerging Victorious

Mickelson labeled his win at the tour as being ‘cool’ and stated that it was probably his biggest challenge to play the kinds of shots required at the course. He added that emerging victorious in this competition boosted his confidenceahead of the British and future Scottish Opens.

Mickelson erred on the 18th hole and was on par with Grace until the playoffs. It was during the playoffs that the American recovered and edged past the South African by hitting a birdie and that ultimately saw himtaste triumph after a long hiatus.
