Liverpool central defender, Kolo Touré, believes his side can fire their way to the English Premier League summit. He calls for the team to dismiss recent criticisms and concentrate on their title run-in.
Four Points Behind
The Reds sit four points behind league leaders Chelsea FC, but Touré and other Anfield faithful are relishing the thought of getting explosive results in the coming fixtures.
Strikers Daniel Sturridge, former Chelsea player, and Luis Suarez lead the group in ensuring the quality of their play. Touré says, “There are going to be some tough games; Southampton is a tough place to go but I think we can score goals and defend well as a team and we are working hard.”
The Merseyside team, however, is under intense scrutiny recently. They have conceded seven goals in their last three games. Plus, they have kept only two clean sheets in their previous eleven games. Touré, however, believes they still have adequate control over the situation.
Goalkeeper Simon Mignolet mirrors this optimism. “We are in a good position at the moment but with 11 games to go there are still a lot of things that can happen.”
“We need to stay calm and just focus on our next game. We won’t be thinking about what’s happened against them in the past,” he adds.
