A suburban Chicago couple’s wedding invitation went viral Wednesday, even surpassing the royal baby in popularity for a brief time.
Katie Kerr, 28, and fiancé Chris Sabino, 29, who will wed on September 21, created a wedding invitation with a unique set of R.S.V.P. questions that led the social media spotlight to focus on them.
Strange Reasons for Attending, or Not
She and her husband-to-be made guests check off their reason for attending (or for not attending) their wedding in a clever manner.
Guests who planned on coming to the wedding, for example, could say they confirmed their attendance because, “I’m in your wedding party, idiot. Wait, is this optional?” or “Two words: Free. Booze.”
Guests who have to turn down the invitation may say so with options like, “I’m lame. On a scale of one to ten, my lameness would be in the 9.5 to 9.8 range,” or “I will be visiting, um, Yemen. Yeah, Yemen. But it’s a secret trip. So if you ask anyone, they will have no clue what you’re talking about.”
Unexpected Overnight Recognition
The DuPage County couple created such a different and amusing wedding invitation that a countless number of people on various social media platforms shared the image.
Kerr explained that they were just trying to make the invitation unique. “This is crazy. I didn’t think it would be that big of a deal,” she said in an interview.
